ABOUT US

Kayakers

The Boston Sea Kayak Club provides a supporting environment for those interested in sea kayaking. Kayakers of all skill levels – from novice to advanced – are welcome. Children less than 18 years old may join our trips with permission of the trip leader and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Members are encouraged to network with one another and organize their own informal paddling get-togethers.

Types of Trips

The club offers day and overnight paddling trips for members of varying skill levels. In addition to scheduled trips members are encouraged to organize their own informal paddling get-togethers.

Membership Benefits

Benefits of membership include: a Club trip schedule, quarterly newsletter, extensive message system, information on the local kayaking scene and access to Club meetings.

Instruction

We don't teach kayaking since there are commercial groups in the area that do it much better than we could. Vistit our Links page for a list. We do notify our membership of indoor and outdoor workshops on a regular basis.

Meetings

Our meetings are generally during winter months. We have a speaker and usually a slide show or workshop, often after a potluck dinner. Past speakers have talked about kayaking in Alaska, the Scottish Isles, Chile, Newfoundland, and our New England coastline. We've had recent workshops on navigation and safety. The meetings provide an opportunity for members to meet, exchange tales, and to network with one another.

Messages

The message system allows the club to pass event notices to the membership and allows members to contact one another regarding kayaking activities. It includes an e-mail function accessed via the Message Board page on the Web site.
